‘Weird’ Rumor About John Harbaugh, Lamar Jackson Is Gaining Attention

Is there tension brewing between John Harbaugh and Lamar Jackson? That seems to be the No. 1 question regarding the Baltimore Ravens.
Despite entering the 2025 season with Super Bowl expectations, the Ravens find themselves at 6-7 heading into this Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. They won five games in a row to get over .500 for the first time this season, but everything came crashing back down on Thanksgiving.

Not only have the Ravens lost their way on defense, they haven’t received great quarterback play from Jackson. In the past two weeks, the former MVP has just one touchdown pass and two interceptions. That’s simply not good enough.
Injuries have plagued Jackson this season, make no mistake about it. On Wednesday, however, the Ravens said he was given a rest day. That seemed a bit odd considering he’s battled hamstring and toe injuries over the past month.

Has Lamar checked out?
During an appearance on “The Bill Simmons Podcast” this Thursday, FS1 personality Nick Wright made the argument that Jackson is done with the 2025 Ravens. He’s not even sure if Jackson still talks to his head coach.

“Can somebody please report on whether or not Lamar Jackson and John Harbaugh even talk to each other? This is the weirdest story in the league. Every time Lamar Jackson has suffered an injury in his career, John Harbaugh has had one timeline about when Lamar is going to play and Lamar has had a totally different one,” Wright said. “… I think Lamar’s checked out.”
There’s zero indication that Baltimore wants to move on from Harbaugh, but NFL insider Josina Anderson recently said a longtime coach could be eying a change of scenery.
“Keeping tabs as we approach Carousel season: League sources are eyeing five more NFL teams with projected openings at head coach, as of where things stand today, while waiting to collect more data on a 6th team too,” Anderson said. “Meanwhile, there’s is a longtime NFL head coach out there who is considering wanting a change of scenery & has told others of these thoughts. If he acts on those lingering feelings, his departure would clearly add to the list of vacancies.”

Maybe, just maybe, Harbaugh will want out once this season is over.
