NFL fans have seen both sides of the Minnesota Vikings over the past fortnight as they were thumped 26-0 by the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13 before turning the tables and walloping the Washington Commanders 31-0 last week.
A fluctuating quarterback situation has not helped, but original starter JJ McCarthy returned from his second injury absence of the season last week and gives the team a better chance than his inexperienced back-up Max Brosmer, who looked well out of his depth in the Seahawks game.
The Cowboys know all about inconsistency but they had put together their best run of the season with three wins before going down 44-30 in Detroit last week.
Minnesota’s defence will need another strong outing against a talented Dallas offence, but the handicap for this game looks too big and the underdogs are worth siding with.
The Dallas defence looked to have stepped up in wins over the Chiefs and Eagles after struggling for much of the first half of the season but they had few answers in Detroit.
There’s not much overall between the teams in terms of talent, which makes the Vikings worth taking with the big handicap start.
