Ice Cube Teases “Full Circle” Cameo In ‘Anaconda’

As Jack Black and Paul Rudd release their meta take on 1997’s Anaconda, at least one member of the original cast will return to the Amazon for a cameo.

During Saturday’s Los Angeles premiere of the Sony Pictures comedy, Ice Cube revealed that he makes an appearance in the Tom Gormican co-written/directed movie, nearly 30 years after playing cameraman Danny Rich in the first film.

“It’s cool to do a cameo, to kind of make it go full circle in a way,” he told reporters, according to People. “When they asked me to do it, when I knew the kind of movie they were doing, I jumped at it. I’m like, ‘This is something different. It’s cool.’”

Ice Cube added, “People probably get a kick out of me popping on the screen.”

Premiering on Christmas, Anaconda follows Doug (Black) and Griff (Rudd), who have been best friends since they were kids, and have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie: the cinematic “classic” Anaconda. When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to start filming. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed.

The original Anaconda followed documentary filmmaker Terri Flores (Jennifer Lopez) and her crew as they journey deep into the Amazon to find a forgotten tribe, only to be hunted by the titular snake.
