Icy conditions for Monday commute as snow cleanup continues across the Philadelphia region

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Icy conditions are a concern for the Monday commute across the Delaware Valley with a refreeze underway after several inches fell on Sunday.

Main roads are mostly clear, but the focus will be on side streets, sidewalks, and driveways that are covered with a thin layer of ice in some areas.

Schools across Philadelphia, as well as courts and government offices, are on a two- hour delay as cleanup continues.

People got creative on Sunday, using the good old-fashioned broom to push the snow off the top of their cars.

The good thing is that the snow fell early enough to get a head start on cleanup.

Families in Montgomery and Chester counties had snowblowers out to clear sidewalks as much as possible.

Many others broke out the shovels and got to work.

“Coming up a hill, especially when it’s slippery,” said Lisa Walski of Norristown, Pennsylvania. “Take it slow, even driving because the roads, you think they’re alright, but there’s ice still on them.”

No matter where you live, the theme Monday will be to take your time.
