Gastonia Powerball ticket wins $2 million in Saturday drawing

RALEIGH, N.C. (WBTV) – A Powerball ticket sold in Gastonia won $2 million in Saturday’s drawing, matching one of the two largest prizes awarded nationally.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Food Lion on South New Hope Road in Gastonia, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery. The $3 Power Play ticket matched all five white balls to claim the $2 million prize. The odds of matching all five white balls are 1 in 11.6 million.
Pennsylvania had the only other $2 million winner in Saturday’s drawing.
Other North Carolina winners
North Carolina saw two additional big wins Saturday.
A $2 ticket bought at the Food Lion on Andrews Road in Fayetteville won $50,000. The ticket matched four white balls and the red Powerball.
A $3 Powerball Double Play ticket purchased at Charlotte’s Landing on Express Drive in Charlotte matched all five white balls to win $500,000.

Winners have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prizes.
Monday’s Powerball drawing offers a $1.1 billion jackpot, or $503.4 million in cash. The jackpot ranks as the sixth largest in Powerball history. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
