Broncos claim RB Cody Schrader off waivers, place S Brandon Jones on IR

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have added a running back to their active roster.

Denver claimed running back Cody Schrader off waivers, the team announced Monday.

The Broncos placed safety Brandon Jones on injured reserve in a corresponding move.

Schrader played a pair of regular-season games for the Rams since entering the NFL in 2024. He has also spent time in 2025 with the Jaguars and Texans. In his final collegiate season, Schrader rushed for 1,627 yards and 14 touchdowns for Missouri and finished eighth in the Heisman race.

Jones had appeared in all 14 games for the Broncos this season before suffering an injury against the Packers on Sunday. The Broncos’ safety is required to miss at least Denver’s next four games.

Additionally, the Jets signed defensive back Keidron Smith off the Broncos’ practice squad.
