Funk Flex Responds to Drake’s Comment About Ebro’s Cancel…

Funkmaster Flex has responded to Drake seemingly celebrating Ebro Darden’s Hot 97 show, Ebro in the Morning, being canceled.

Flex, who is also a host on Hot 97, mentioned Drake’s sassy axe emoji comment on the news of Ebro’s cancellation during the Monday (Dec. 15) broadcast of his eponymous show. “Was Drake talking slick?” he said, referring to the axe emoji comment that Ebro’s co-host Peter Rosenberg also criticized. “New York City, let me tell you something. I don’t care how early it is, I can be arrogant in the morning. I saw Drake give Ebro the chop sign, and Ebro kinda likes him. What do you think he’s gonna give me when he feels like it?”

Flex and Drake have had issues for years, but their feud kicked off properly when Flex premiered a Quentin Miller reference track for Drake in 2015 amid the allegations that the Canadian superstar used ghostwriters. Despite their problems, Flex later apologized and co-signed Drake accusing record labels of payola.

“I know Drake don’t like me,” he continued. “So Drake, listen. We saw that little slick shot you took, but I know that wasn’t just at Ebro, that was at Hot 97. ‘Cause we comment on you a lot. And we love you, baby… Matter fact, no I don’t.” When Flex’s co-hosts attempted to move the conversation forward, he asked if they were trying to stop him from dissing Drake.

“I gotta good segment for y’all, let me live,” he laughed. “Back to Drake. Drake should be wondering about Kendrick and his next album. And I say that politely, Drake, because you’re a veteran like all of us. It’s not that easy anymore. Now, these young rappers is touching you. Kendrick definitely touched you up, or should I say he definitely grinded your gears.” Earlier in the broadcast, Flex and his co-hosts were making “pause” jokes about the phrase “grind my gears.”

Ebro has theorized that his show was canceled over his “anti-Netanyahu” and “progressive” views. His co-host Peter Rosenberg blasted Drake in a post shared on social media. “It’s behavior like this that has made it impossible for people to defend the wack shit that he does,” wrote Rosenberg. “But happy Hanukkah my one time pal… I truly wish you well even if you’re celebrating what you believe is our demise.” Ebro, meanwhile, accused Drake and Akademiks of being “right-wing.”
