Man killed in single-vehicle crash on Calgary’s Glenmore Trail

Calgary police say speed and alcohol were factors in a southeast crash on Tuesday that killed a man in his 40s.

Investigators say around 9 p.m. on Dec. 16, a 2011 Mitsubishi RVR, driven by a man in his 40s, was headed westbound on Glenmore Trial SE near the Blackfoot Trail SE interchange when it hit the back of a Jeep Wrangler.

The Mitsubishi then hit a concrete median, rolled over, hit the barrier a second time, and then slid onto its roof.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, who police say wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the Jeep was left with minor damage. The driver wasn’t hurt and stayed at the scene.

Police believe the driver of the car was drunk and speeding.

This is Calgary’s 36th fatal collision in 2025 and the sixth suspected to involve impairment.
