Who is Alan Jackson? Nick Reiner, charged in parents’ murders, hires high-profile attorney who represented Karen Read, Weinstein
LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Alan Jackson, a well-known defense attorney, has been hired to represent Nick Reiner, the son of actor and director Rob Reiner and photographer and film producer Michele Singer.
Jackson has a notable career in high-profile cases.
Rob Reiner and Michele were found stabbed to death inside their Brentwood home on Sunday. Nick Reiner is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in their deaths, with the special circumstance of multiple murders.
Nick Reiner has been charged with the murders of his parents, renowned director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer, officials announced on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old also faces a special allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon, a knife.
The charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty, L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said at a news conference on Tuesday. He’s being held without bail.
As for his attorney, his name may be familiar to you. Jackson spoke to the media outside the courthouse in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday, confirming he’s representing Nick Reiner. He was also seen on Tuesday at the family’s home in Brentwood.

Jackson ran for Los Angeles County District Attorney back in 2012, but lost to Jackie Lacey in the November runoff election.
On top of his campaign for D.A., he has represented several notable clients in recent years.
This past summer, Jackson represented and secured an acquittal for Karen Read, who was accused of murdering her police officer boyfriend in Massachusetts in 2022. It was a high-profile case followed by publications across the country.

Jackson also represented actor Kevin Spacey in a 2019 groping case involving an 18-year-old bar busboy. The case was ultimately dismissed when Spacey’s accuser dropped his sexual assault lawsuit.
Another one of his high-profile clients was film producer Harvey Weinstein.
Jackson was on his defense team a few years ago, representing Weinstein in Los Angeles. The former Hollywood mogul was convicted in that trial on three felony charges, including rape, and was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
Currently, Jackson is also representing Fraser Michael Bohm, the young man accused of killing four Pepperdine University sorority sisters in a crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu back 2023.
Bohm — who was 22 at the time of the crash and is now 24 — is charged with four counts each of murder and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in the Oct. 17, 2023, crash. The prosecution claims he was speeding when he crashed into several parked vehicles.
The case is ongoing, with Jackson challenging the legal basis for murder charges against his client.
Before his time as a defense attorney, Jackson was a top prosecutor, working as an assistant head deputy for the major crimes division in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. While there, Jackson secured a murder conviction for music icon Phil Spector.
