Lamar Jackson Misses Practice With Illness

Lamar Jackson will have a sixth straight week without a full week of practice.

Jackson has dealt with knee, ankle, and toe injuries since coming back from an early-season hamstring injury. After taking a rest day last week, Jackson wasn’t on the practice field Wednesday due to an illness as the Ravens start on-field preparations for Sunday’s huge Week 16 game against the New England Patriots.

“Lamar had an illness. He was kept home with a ‘flu’ [like] deal. The [doctor] kept him home today away from the guys,” Head Coach John Harbaugh said.

Ravens cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (foot) and left tackle Ronnie Stanley (knee/ankle) also didn’t practice Wednesday after leaving Sunday’s win in Cincinnati early. Veteran linebackers Roquan Smith (knee) and Kyle Van Noy (quad) also didn’t participate. Harbaugh said that he expects Smith and Stanley to practice Thursday.

Rookie linebacker Jay Higgins IV, who had his 21-day window opened to return to the 53-man roster Wednesday, was limited with his knee. Safety Keondre Jackson was limited with an ankle, and defensive tackle C.J. Okoye was a full participant with a quad.

In positive news, wide receiver Rashod Bateman logged a full practice after missing Sunday’s game due to an ankle injury. Bateman aggravated his ankle injury last week during practice, Harbaugh said.
