It’s Gerard Butler vs. the Post-Apocalypse in the Fiery New ‘Greenland 2: Migration’ Trailer

Back in late 2020, Greenland was a surprise pandemic-era hit; it turns out people sick of being trapped in their houses were very eager to watch Gerard Butler use his action-movie chops to outrun a comet on a collision course with Earth.
Spoiler alert: while most of the planet got thoroughly rocked, Butler’s character survived, along with his family, and Greenland 2: Migration is here to check in on them five years later.
As you might imagine, the world is still in turmoil; the human population has been severely reduced, but those who remain must battle the atmospheric and environmental effects of the cosmic disaster. Instead of just Clarke the comet, now there are earthquakes, tsunamis, superstorms… you name a natural disaster, and this new trailer for Migration probably has it.
But sticking Migration into the title implies hope, and as you can see, Butler and his family (Deadpool‘s Morena Baccarin returns as his wife, with Roman Griffin Davis stepping in to play their now-teenage son) are forced out of their Greenland bunker in search of a more permanent home. Like the first film, the sequel looks very much structured around a frantic quest for survival, with Butler’s character vowing to do whatever it takes to save his family.
Hey, if anyone can battle the elements to find the one place where humanity can thrive—noted master of disaster Gerard Butler certainly has the best shot!
Find out what happens—and ogle all the special effects spinning out Earth’s very violent recovery phase—when Greenland 2: Migration hits theaters January 9.
