The French manager will be best known for going unbeaten during the 2003/04 Premier League season to become the only team to win the league without suffering a single defeat.

Kroos has been discussing Wenger’s achievements, but noted one detail about him as a manager that he really loved.

Toni Kroos loved how Arsene Wenger’s style of play at Arsenal

Toni Kroos believes that the way Arsene Wenger made Arsenal play such ‘good football’ was a big reason why he is so strongly admired.

The German has revealed that he is soon set to meet with the former Arsenal boss, and he is incredibly excited about the prospect of doing so.

The World Cup winner says that what he achieved at Arsenal was ‘incredibly impressive’, of course, noting The Invincibles’ season.

Kroos told Einfach mal Luppen: “So on my schedule for March, there’s also a visit from Arsene Wenger on March 19th. Maybe that isn’t the most spectacular thing in itself, but I have to say, for me, it really is.

If you could go back in time and choose a different manager to replace Arsene Wenger in 2018, who would it be and why?

“I’ve always liked Arsene Wenger a lot as a coach. He had an incredibly impressive history at Arsenal: The Invincibles, the unbeaten Premier League season with Arsenal.

“Above all, because of his playing style. He was always someone who promoted football, who always had his teams play good football.”

Kroos played against Wenger’s Arsenal on four occasions with Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

During the 2012/13 season, the German international scored a key goal at the Emirates Stadium as Bayern eliminated the Gunners from the competition.

Mark Clattenburg suggests Arsene Wenger’s inability to rebuild Arsenal held him back

The only major issue Wenger faced during his career was his inability to rebuild his Arsenal team, unlike Pep Guardiola at Man City and Sir Alex Ferguson at Man United.

Speaking about where he ranks among the greatest Premier League coaches, Clattenburg told Beyond the Back Four: “If you look at the Invincible team, that season’s probably one of the best seasons any football club’s had.

“But if you look at it over a long period of time towards the back end of Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal career, it was slightly going downhill, and people will accept that because he wasn’t as successful, certainly in terms of Premier League titles.”

“Yes, he did win the cup, some cups, but in general, everybody looks at the Premier League as the marker.

“So, Arsene Wenger certainly had that period when he brought the invincibles together, but once that dismantled itself, yes, he had a good squad, but certainly one that didn’t have the success like Pep did and certainly didn’t have what Alex did.”
