‘He puts a clever finish on that’ – Ex-Chelsea star hails Arokodare’s goal against Arsenal

Andy Townsend has lauded Tolu Arokodare’s clinical goal after the Nigerian striker scored his first for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Arsenal.
On Saturday night, Arsenal secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Wolves at the Emirate Stadium to go five points clear on the table.
The Gunners took the lead from a Bukayo Saka corner kick that went in by hitting the back of the goalkeeper in the second half.
However, with a few minutes of stoppage time, Arokodare restored parity and almost crushed the Gunners’ title hopes, but an own goal in injury time from Mosquera sealed the win for Arsenal.

While providing commentary for the Premier League’s world feed, Townsend praised the quality of the move and the execution of the finish that saw Arokodare open his account in England’s top flight.

“They kept the ball really well, let’s be honest, give them some credit. They brought it into good areas,” Townsend noted during the broadcast.
Analyzing the goal, the former Republic of Ireland international highlighted the striker’s intelligent movement and precise touch.
“He’s clearly onside… It’s a pacy, flat delivery. Nobody can get there, it’s just what the big man wants, he puts a clever finish on that,” Townsend explained. “It’s a fast delivery, it’s a flick header, goes past David Raya right down the middle of the goal.”

Wolves manager Gary O’Neil introduced Arokodare in the 79th minute, and the striker made an immediate impact.
His physical presence troubled the Arsenal defence, and he provided a much-needed focal point for his team’s attack.
The goal marked a significant moment for Arokodare after a challenging start to his Premier League career and followed his omission from Nigeria’s final squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, despite being named in the provisional list.
