News briefs: Turkish Airlines, Amadeus, Air Canada

Turkish Airlines has partnered with Uber to offer Business Class passengers flying from London Stansted Airport to Istanbul and beyond a complimentary £100 Uber voucher for travel to the airport. The campaign runs until December 31 2026 and applies to eligible Business Class bookings on flights TK1242, TK1244 and TK1246. Passengers can claim the voucher by booking an eligible ticket and submitting their reservation number to Turkish Airlines. The airline said the partnership is designed to extend the premium travel experience beyond the airport and provide greater convenience for passengers travelling through its Istanbul hub.
Azerbaijan Airlines has signed a new agreement with Amadeus to accelerate its digital transformation through new revenue management, shopping and distribution technology. The partnership will introduce Amadeus Network Revenue Management, Flex Pricer Premium, MetaConnect and Instant Search to help the airline improve demand forecasting, optimise pricing and inventory decisions, expand distribution through metasearch channels including Skyscanner and Kayak and enhance the online booking experience. Jamil Manizade, Chief Commercial Officer of Azerbaijan Airlines, said the agreement would support the carrier’s modernisation strategy by advancing its digital capabilities and improving the passenger experience. Lenka Klimova, Senior Vice President, EMEA Airlines at Amadeus, said the technology would help the airline attract high-intent demand, strengthen upselling opportunities and deliver faster, more flexible search capabilities.
Air Canada has appointed Anko Van der Werff as its next President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board, with the transition expected by the end of January 2027. Van der Werff joins from Scandinavian Airlines, where he is currently President and Chief Executive Officer, and previously held senior leadership roles at Avianca Group, Aeroméxico, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Qatar Airways. Vagn Sørensen, Chair of the Board at Air Canada, said Van der Werff’s international aviation experience and track record in transformation made him the right choice to lead the airline’s next phase of growth. Rousseau’s retirement will take effect on August 31 2026, with the Executive Committee reporting to the Board during the transition period.
