2025 HearingLife Canadian Open Playoffs Tracker: Who’s in, who’s out and who’s still in the mix?

SASKATOON — It’s moving day at the HearingLife Canadian Open, with the preliminary round wrapping up Friday at Merlis Belsher Place.

The playoff picture has already started to take shape, as a handful of teams qualified early, but there’s still so much to be determined.

And yes, there will be tiebreakers.

MEN’S DIVISION

Who has qualified for the playoffs?

Team Mouat (3-0, nine points): Bruce Mouat and the boys continue to roll, clinching a playoff spot with a 7-4 win over Team Casper. Mouat is the double defending champion in the event and has also captured the past two Grand Slam of Curling men’s titles.

Team Y. Schwaller (3-0, nine points): Yannick Schwaller’s squad secured a spot with a 7-5 win over Team Hösli in an all-Swiss showdown.

Team Shuster (3-1, nine points): John Shuster qualified Friday morning with a 7-2 win over Team Retornaz.

Who’s still in the mix?

• Team Muskatewitz (2-1, seven points): Last game vs. Jacobs.

• Team Waddell (2-1, six points): Last game vs. Mouat.

• Team Retornaz (2-2, six points): Joël Retornaz wrapped things up with a 7-2 loss to Shuster. Now his Italian team plays the waiting game.

• Team Gushue (2-1, six points): Last game vs. Dunstone.

• Team Edin (2-1, six points): Last game vs. Y. Schwaller.

Team Ha (3-0, nine points): Seung-youn Ha was the first past the post with a 6-4 win in Thursday’s morning draw over Japan’s Team Kitazawa.

Team Homan (3-0, nine points): Rachel Homan downed Team Kim 6-3 Thursday. The Canadian club entered the event as the double defending champions and winners of the past three Grand Slam women’s titles.

Team Einarson (3-0, nine points): Kerri Einarson also earned a 6-3 victory Thursday, doubling up on Team Constantini, to remain undefeated.

Team Fujisawa (3-1, nine points): Satsuki Fujisawa scored four in the fourth end during an 8-5 win Friday morning over Team Kang to qualify.

Who is still in the mix?

• Team Tirinzoni (2-1, six points): Last game vs. Morrison.

• Team Yoshimura (2-1, six points): Last game vs. Tabata.

• Team Kang (2-2, six points): With the 8-5 loss to Fujisawa, Kang is in wait-and-see mode.

• Team Wang (2-2, six points): Wang defeated Team Kitazawa 6-5 Friday morning to remain in play for now.
