Jordan Addison Takes Flight in End Zone

Justin Jefferson joked, “I’m just glad he didn’t get caught this time,” referencing previous plays in which Addison got nearly to the paint but was taken down at the last second.
“It was good he got in that end zone when we really needed it,” said Jefferson, whose 30 receiving yards were enough to break Randy Moss’ record through a player’s first six NFL seasons.
And though it’s certainly an exciting benchmark to break, “Jets” cared more about the game’s result.
“Winning is the main thing, no matter how it gets done,” he said.
On Thursday, that included Addison’s touchdown and a first-quarter rushing score by Jones. Facing third down from the goal line, Jones shared Addison’s “must-score” mindset on the 1-yard run.
“C.J. [Ham] was leading the way. As the play breaks, C.J. turns to me and says, ‘All right, let’s get this in,’ ” Jones recounted. “And it was like, ‘All right.’ You’ve got to take advantage of goal-line carries.
“They did a good job of staying on their guys, and I found the seam, and C.J. got a piece of [Jack Campbell] and it allowed me to get vertical and put my shoulder down, and he couldn’t really tackle me,” he continued. “Once C.J. got a piece of him, I just kept driving my feet.”
