Dysart man claims $1 million lottery ticket

DYSART, Iowa (KCRG) – A Tama County man has claimed a winning $1 million lottery ticket.

William Zak of Dysart’s winning ticket matched all five white Powerball numbers in the December 20th drawing. His ticket was just one number off from that night’s 1.43 billion-dollar jackpot.

Zak bought the ticket at a Kwik Star in Vinton.

Iowa Lottery officials said Zak claimed his prize on Friday at the lottery’s main office in Clive.

A single Powerball hit the $1.82 billion jackpot drawing held on Christmas Eve, just a few days later. That ticket was sold in Murphy USA in Cabot, a little gas station outside Little Rock, Arkansas.
