Big travel day ahead for those heading home from holidays after winter snow storm flight delays and cancellations

NEW YORK (WABC) — Today marks another of the season’s biggest travel days as folks head home after the holidays.
The good news is that today we’re dealing with rain instead of snow.
The flight board isn’t currently showing delays or cancellations — but over the weekend, it was a different story
On Friday into Saturday morning we had snow that impacted our local airports, blanketing runways.
Newark, JFK and LaGuardia airports posted on social media, warning passengers about the weather and possible delays.
More than 1,900 flights were canceled nationally over the weekend, but at our three local major airports we saw hundreds of flights canceled Friday and Saturday
Around 4 inches of snow fell in New York City by Saturday, and state of emergency announcements were in place for New Jersey and some areas of New York.
We can expect more busy travel days ahead as people travel to their New Year’s destinations and back.
