Match preview – Crawley Town (A)

Bromley travel to Crawley Town on Monday night – the Ravens sit 18 places above the Reds in the Sky Bet League Two table prior to the game, with Scott Lindsey’s side placed in 20th. Andy Woodman’s side come into the encounter having won their last four games, whilst Crawley last recorded a win on November 8th, against Fleetwood Town.

The two sides last faced less than a month ago, when the Reds were beaten 3-1 at the CopperJax Community Stadium courtesy of goals from Omar Sowunmi, Idris Odutayo and Michael Cheek, ruling out Ryan Loft’s early goal.

Lindsey’s assistant manager, Neil Smith, is a familiar face in BR2, having spent nearly five years as Manager at Hayes Lane. During his tenure, Bromley made it to Wembley for the first time since 1949, where they lost the FA Trophy Final on penalties to Brackley Town in 2018.

Smith isn’t the only familiar face at Crawley – the two Harrys, Forster and McKirdy, also ply their trade for the West Sussex side. Forster signed for Crawley in 2023, where he has been ever since, and McKirdy joined after his contract expired at Bromley in the summer transfer window of 2025.

Crawley’s fairytale promotion-story in the 2023/24 campaign, where they gained promotion to League One via the play-offs, came to a hasty end when they ventured straight back down into League Two after finishing 21st in the third division of English football, despite winning their final three games.

In their promotion campaign, Town finished seventh in the league, with many tipping them to struggle in the play-offs; this couldn’t have been more wrong, and they made light work of MK Dons, beating them 8-1 over a two-legged play-off semi-final, with the latter of the two games seeing them demolish the Dons 5-1 away from home.

Scott and Smith’s side has struggled so far this campaign, achieving just four wins from their opening 22 games, whilst Bromley sit second in the division, as well as boasting the feat of being the only League Two side to remain unbeaten at home in the league.
