As the title is also available on alternate platforms at no extra cost. At the time of writing, both seasons are also streaming on Tubi and ITVX.
According to its synopsis, the series picks up following the disappearance of a college student from a small town in New Jersey that begins a series of events which forever changes the life of town Sheriff Harold Jensen. The investigation takes the officer into the neighboring mountains, where a federally unrecognized Native American tribe makes its home.
Jensen eventually comes into contact with dangerous ex-con and tribe member Phillip Kopus, whose return to the college town raises suspicions and threatens to disrupt the peace. After a tragedy and cover-up further divides the town and the tribe, Kopus takes advantage, forcing Jensen to compromise his principles or risk destroying his family.

The show’s plot is based on the plight of the Ramapough Lenape Nation at the Ringwood Mines landfill site in New Jersey, where toxic wastes from the nearby Mahwah Ford plant were dumped. It was created by Aaron Guzikowski, who previously penned the screenplay for Prisoners starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal. He also created the HBO sci-fi drama Raised by Wolves.
While not an overwhelming favourite with critics, registering only 67% on website Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a more impressive fan score of 86%. Many fans speak about being left more after the show as cancelled following its second season. They also comment on the stellar cast, which is led by soon to be star of the new Supergirl movie, Jason Momoa.
One viewer, sharing their thoughts online, posted: “The Red Road was so good. Watched all 12 episodes this weekend. With a cliff hanger ending they cancelled season 3, that was a big mistake.
“I believe the fans deserve a proper ending. But the show it self was great I give it 5 stars more if you had more to give.”
Another claimed: “You can’t top this. This is the most well-written, well thought-out, well produced, the best of everything is right here in this show. Entertaining every minute keeping you on the edge of your seat. It is so down to earth and so many well-thought-out roles, even hilarious at times. The creators of this show should take over Hollywood, and teach them how it’s done.”

Someone else added: “I am extremely sad that this series didn’t get more than 12 episodes to tell it’s story. It wasn’t finished and, I miss it! LOVE, LOVE LOVED IT!! It was well written, well acted and kept the surprises coming. This was one of Momoa’s finest performances!”
They continued: “Modern, understated, emotional and so much going on under the surface. Kopus played by anyone else wouldn’t have been so layered. The depth of the character… Momoa and Henderson did a great job of blurring the lines of good and bad. Outstanding cast both familiar faces and newcomers! They should have had the guts to support the genius they had and finished telling the story!”
