Actor and Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Mohanlal’s mother, Santhakumari, died in Kochi, Kerala, on Tuesday (December 30, 2025). She was 90.
The death occurred at the actor’s residence at Elamakkara. She had been ailing for some time owing to neurological disorders. The death was confirmed by doctors at Amrita Hospital, where she had been undergoing treatment, according to authorities.

The actor had always credited his mother for his various achievements. He had been vocal in expressing his love and affection to her in his speeches and posts made on social media.
The late bureaucrat Viswanathan Nair is her husband. Her elder son Pyarelal passed away in 2000.
Her cremation will be held around 4 p.m. on Wednesday on the premises of Mr. Mohanlal’s home near Mudavanmugal, Thiruvananthapuram.
