Tottenham Eyeing ‘Incredible’ £87m Star as Brennan Johnson Replacement in January

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande after they agreed a deal with Crystal Palace to sell Brennan Johnson, according to BBC reporter Sami Mokbel.

GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed on Tuesday morning that Crystal Palace have agreed a £35m deal to sign Johnson from Spurs. Everton and Bournemouth are also believed to be interested, and Johnson is yet to make a decision on whether he wants to make the move to Palace.

As a result, Spurs will have to find a replacement if a deal with Palace goes through, but with multiple Premier League clubs keen, it looks as though Johnson could be heading through the exit door.

Tottenham Eyeing Diomande After January Exit Agreed

According to BBC journalist Mokbel, Tottenham are now looking at replacements for Johnson after a £35m deal was agreed with Palace. RB Leipzig youngster Diomande, who has burst onto the scene in the Bundesliga this season, is among the possible list of replacements for the north London club.

Diomande is one of the most exciting, up-and-coming wingers in world football at the moment. The 19-year-old has produced eight goals and assists combined in just 10 starts in the Bundesliga, and he’s still far from reaching his full potential.

The youngster was with Leganes last season, making six starts in La Liga, before he joined the German outfit in January earlier this year.

Time for Johnson to Move on

Brennan Johnson reacts to miss

Johnson has started just six Premier League games so far this season, and with Spurs investing significantly in their playing squad, he’s struggling to become a regular. Tottenham are set to recoup a large portion of what they paid for him, and it allows them to invest in more high-potential talent, such as Diomande.

The additions of Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus in the summer have seen Johnson demoted to being just a squad player, and there’s no doubt he’ll be keen on playing more regularly. Keeping Johnson as a squad player would be beneficial for Spurs, but it’s difficult for them to turn down a bid of £35m.
