Auburn QB Deuce Knight plans to enter the transfer portal

One of Auburn’s most promising young players looks to be leaving the program.
Freshman quarterback Deuce Knight has informed Auburn’s staff of his plans to enter the transfer portal, a source confirmed to AL.com.
He now becomes the third Auburn quarterback who’s expected to transfer. Jackson Arnold and Ashton Daniels, who combined for 11 starts this season, are also expected to enter the portal.
Knight played in just two games this season, but impressed in his lone start, a 62-17 win over Mercer. In that game, Knight threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns on 15-for-20 passing, while rushing for 162 yards and four touchdowns on just nine carries.
His performance against Mercer created excitement around the fanbase for Knight’s future, but it now appears that future will be somewhere else. It’s the second year in row in which a promising freshman quarterback has announced plans to transfer from Auburn, after Walker White transferred to Baylor last season.
After playing in just two games during his true freshman season, Knight will still have four years of eligibility remaining, as he maintained his redshirt in 2025.
With Knight and Arnold both expected to leave, incoming freshman Rhys Brush is currently the Tigers’ only scholarship quarterback. Quarterback now becomes a major position of need for Auburn in the portal.
The portal does not officially open until Jan. 2. It will be open for 15 days until Jan. 16, and there is no longer a spring transfer portal window.
