Why no touchdowns in second half?

Where does the offense continue to go in the second half? Lights out in the first half, two field goals against the woeful Commanders in the second half. And they havent scored a touchdown in the second half since the Detroit game. Any ideas? – Mark Muras/San Antonio, TX

Mickey: Well, let’s look inside this most recent game. I get the second halves, but look, the Cowboys did score 30 points, they did throw for 307 yards, they did convert six of six fourth downs and finished with 480 yards total offense. Now then, first possession third quarter: Drive starts at their own 7. After a first down, they face third-and-3 at the 24, Dak hits George Pickens for 10 yards. Gets called for a ticky-tack O.P.I. Awful, minus 10, then a false start and punting from the end zone. Next possession, miss on a deep shot to CeeDee. Field goal. Next possession, field goal. So now the Cowboys have scored on six of eight possessions that included a missed field goal before basically trying to run out the clock on the ninth possession. I get it, but sort of nit-picking after a win and 92 offensive plays and controlling the ball for 38:44. Shame on them for not scoring 50.
