The $315.8 Million Movie That Reignited a Beloved Horror Franchise Is Destined for a New Streamer

A wonderful year for horror, 2025 gave audiences four stellar Stephen King adaptations, a brand-new jaw-dropping body horror film in Michael ShanksTogether, Ryan Coogler’s vampire flick, Sinners, and numerous other immediate favorites. The year also welcomed a beloved franchise back to the fold and gave it a second chance at life with the spring arrival of Final Destination Bloodlines. Helmed by directorial duo, Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, the movie perfectly brought the death-centered universe back to cinemas and scored major dollar signs at the box office for Warner Bros. Soon, those who didn’t get the chance to see the sixth film in the series during its cinematic run can welcome it into their living rooms when Final Destination Bloodlines arrives on Prime Video on January 1.

Setting up a different cause and effect of events than the movies that preceded it, Final Destination Bloodlines follows one family’s dance with death after its matriarch cheated her fate during her youth. Tracking down the survivors of the opening sequence one by one, it has taken years upon years to get to the Campbell family, but now death is knocking at their door. Certain that she can crack the code to save her loved ones from a morbid ending, college student Stefani Reyes (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) takes on the Grim Reaper.

Co-penned by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, the tone of Final Destination Bloodlines offers fans something the previous films lacked — a level of campiness and comedy. In addition to Santa Juana, the film also features the talents of Teo Briones (Chucky), Owen Patrick Joyner (Julie and the Phantoms), Richard Harmon (The 100), Anna Lore (Gotham Knights), Brec Bassinger (The Man in the White Van) and returning franchise favorite, Tony Todd (Candyman), in what would become his final on-screen appearance following his death.

The Legacy Continues

With a 92% critics’ approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Final Destination Bloodlines is by far the most critically acclaimed title in the franchise. At the global box office, the film amassed $315.8 million, quickly eclipsing its $50 million production budget and making it a financial success. Seeing space to continue the legacy, Warner Bros. pushed forward for a follow-up film, with Taylor returning to the writers’ room alongside a team of producers that includes Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle, and Toby Emmerich, with Warren Zide executive producing.

Head over to Prime Video on January 1 to stream Final Destination Bloodlines.
