As reported by the UPL press service
The Dynamo Kyiv forward Matviy Ponomarenko topped the ranking of the best brace scorers in the history of Ukraine’s national U19 youth league.
In the 2025/2026 season, the 19-year-old forward registered his 10th brace, which made him the leader of the historic ranking.
This happened on November 9, 2025, during a match against peers from Cherkasy’s LNZ, which finished 7-0 thanks to Ponomarenko’s brace.
The previous record for the number of braces in the U-19 national league belonged to Yevhen Isaienko of Dynamo, who recorded 9 braces and held the mark for almost six years.
In third to fifth places in the ranking with 7 braces were Artur Miranyan from Shakhtar (2013), Mykhailo Plokhotnyuk from Odesa’s Chornomorets (2018), and Abdulla Abdullaev from Shakhtar (2020).
Significance of the achievement and context
This achievement underscores Ponomarenko’s place among Ukraine’s U-19 brace-scoring leaders and attests to his consistent results at the youth level.
