Is there a new ‘Saturday Night Live’ episode tonight (1/3/26)?

LIVE FROM NEW YORK — “Saturday Night Live” is still on its third break of the season.
There will not be a new episode Saturday, Jan. 3, but the late-night sketch comedy series will return Saturday, Jan. 17, with host Finn Wolfhard and musical guest A$AP Rocky.
The episode will mark “Stranger Things” actor Finn Wolfhard’s “SNL” debut and rapper A$AP Rocky’s second appearance, following a 2018 sketch cameo in an episode hosted by Donald Glover.
The show kicked off its 51st season on Oct. 4 with musician Bad Bunny as host and musical guest Doja Cat performing.
On Oct. 11, former SNL cast member Amy Poehler hosted alongside musical guest Role Model. Poehler anchored “Weekend Update” during her tenure and has hosted twice before — once in 2010 and again in 2015 alongside Tina Fey, who made a surprise appearance during Saturday’s cold open. Musician Charli XCX also made an appearance during Role Model’s performance.
Popular singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter took on double duty as both host and musical guest on Oct. 18. This was Carpenter’s hosting debut, but she previously performed on the show in 2024 and alongside Paul Simon at the SNL50 anniversary special in February 2025.
On Nov. 1, actor Miles Teller hosted alongside musical guest Brandi Carlile. Teller previously hosted “SNL” in October 2022, and Carlile has been the “SNL” musical guest three times before: in October 2021, in December 2022, and with Elton John in April 2025.
Standup comedian Nikki Glaser made her “SNL” hosting debut on Nov. 8. Twenty-year-old musical guest Sombr made his “SNL” debut alongside her.
Actor Glen Powell also made his “SNL” hosting debut on Nov. 15 joined by first-time musical guest Olivia Dean, a 2026 Grammy nominee for Best New Artist.
After a two-week hiatus, “Saturday Night Live” returned with a new episode Dec. 6 with host Melissa McCarthy and musical guest Dijon, marking McCarthy’s sixth time hosting, her first since 2017, and Dijon’s “SNL” debut.
Actor Josh O’Conner made his “SNL” debut as host on Dec. 13. He was joined by Lily Allen, who returned to the show as a musical guest for the first time since 2007.
Ariana Grande returned to host for the third time on Dec. 20, with Cher joining as the musical guest. This marked Cher’s second time performing on the show as the musical guest, her first being in 1987.
Former Staten Islander Colin Jost, the longest-serving “Weekend Update” anchor in the show’s history, is still behind the desk. Joining him for Season 51 is his longtime “Weekend Update” co-anchor, Michael Che, along with familiar faces Kenan Thompson, Chloe Fineman and Mikey Day.
Featured players Andrew Dismukes, Marcello Hernandez, James Austin Johnson, Sarah Sherman, Ashley Padilla and Jane Wickline have also returned. “SNL” also welcomed five new featured players for Season 51: Ben Marshall, Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson and Veronika Slowikowska.
Bowen Yang, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow and Emil Wakim have all departed, along with several writers, including Celeste Yim and Rosebud Baker.
