WTA Brisbane Day 2 Predictions Including Marketa Vondrousova vs Magdalena Frech

Day 2 of the WTA Brisbane International is packed with exciting first-round matches. Former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova is featured in this article as she takes on Magdalena Frech. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But which players will advance?
WTA Brisbane Day 2 Predictions
Ann Li vs Olivia Gadecki
Head-to-Head: Li 0-1 Gadecki
Australia’s Olivia Gadecki made a great comeback in the second round of qualifying against Yulia Putintseva to book her place in the main draw. She has the momentum and will like her chances against a player she has beaten before. Ann Li is much higher ranked and had a fantastic 2025 season. However, she is playing in Brisbane for the first time, and it won’t be easy to find her best level right away against a local player.
Prediction: Gadecki in 3
Tatjana Maria vs Emerson Jones
Head-to-Head: first meeting
38-year-old veteran Tatjana Maria had a remarkable late-career surge in 2025, winning the WTA 500 title at Queen’s Club as a qualifier–becoming one of the oldest champions in recent history. However, hard court is her worst surface, and she comes into this match on a five-match losing streak in all competitions. 17-year-old wild card Emerson Jones is a former junior World No.1 and has an aggressive game. This is a great opportunity for Jones to register her second tour-level win.
Prediction: Jones in 3

Anna Blinkova vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich
Head-to-Head: Blinkova 0-3 Sasnovich
Anna Blinkova ended 2025 on a high note, capturing her second WTA title in Jiujiang (without dropping a set) and winning her last five matches of the year. She has a strong record on hard courts and will aim to build on the momentum from last season. Aliaksandra Sasnovich, a former finalist at the Brisbane International, has not been at her best in the last two seasons. However, her great record against Blinkova must give her some hope.
Prediction: Blinkova in 3
Kimberly Birrell vs Rebecca Sramkova
Head-to-Head: first meeting
27-year-old wild card Kimberly Birrell made the quarterfinals here last season and finished the year inside the Top 100 for the first time. She thrives on the medium-fast Brisbane conditions with her aggressive baseline game and big serve. Rebecca Sramkova blitzed past her opponents in the qualifying rounds and entered the main draw full of confidence. This should be a competitive match, but I am going with the local player.
Prediction: Birrell in 3

Marketa Vondrousova vs Magdalena Frech
Head-to-Head: Vondrousova 3-0 Frech
Former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova is returning to action after a limited end to 2025, with her last match a retirement in Tokyo. She will be looking to build some momentum before the Australian Open and play her best tennis at the Slam. Her variety and return of serve can trouble anyone, and Magdalena Frech has been on the receiving end multiple times. Frech is consistent, but it will take a bad match from Vondrousova to lose this.
Prediction: Vondrousova in 3
