Columbia police detain 17-year-old following shots fired and carjacking incident at the Shoppes at Stadium

Columbia police detained a 17-year-old juvenile for his involvement in the shots fired incident at Shoppes at Stadium on Saturday night.
The male suspect was arrested for three counts of first-degree assault, first-degree property damage, vehicle hijacking, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action, according to a Sunday morning news release from the Columbia Police Department.
No injuries were reported from the incident after shots were fired around 7 p.m. Saturday at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Police said they believe the suspect carjacked someone in the parking lot before leaving the scene.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A spotted the suspect driving a gray Nissan Altima on Southbound U.S. 65 in Pettis County around 8 p.m.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop at 8:16 p.m., and the suspect fled, leading to a pursuit.
The suspect crashed on Route V near Bahner Road and was taken into custody around 8:19 p.m.
A spokesperson for Columbia police said they are no longer looking for other suspects as they believe he was the only one involved.
The Columbia Police Department is still actively investigating.
