A Rude Awakening: RNC Urges Drivers Not to Sleep in Car After Drinking

RNC Cst. Steph Myers (VOCM News)
It’s not a daily occurrence but neither is it unheard of for someone to be arrested for drunk driving because they chose to bunk ‘er down for the night in their vehicle.
Trouble is, the driver who chooses a motorized machine for a sleeping spot is probably unaware that that is just as illegal as being stopped on the highway.
Cst. Steph Myers of the RNC says it does not make a difference in the eyes of the law.
If you’re four times over the legal limit – as was the case in one situation in metro a week or so ago – or just a whisker above the legal limit – impaired driving is impaired driving.
“If you’re behind the wheel, you have care and control of that vehicle,” says Cst. Myers.
