Penguins D Zamula on unconditional waivers after failing to report to AHL

Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Egor Zamula is on unconditional waivers for contract termination, according to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston.

He will become an unrestricted free agent tomorrow if he goes unclaimed. Johnston reports that Zamula has multiple NHL teams interested in him.

An undrafted free agent, Zamula signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers in September of 2018.

He was traded to Pittsburgh on Dec. 31 in exchange for forward Philip Tomasino and was suspended shortly after for failing to report to the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

The 25-year-old is in the second season of a two-year, $3.4 million contract with an AAV of $1.7 million.

The Chelyabinsk, Russia native has appeared in 168 career NHL games, scoring eight goals with 41 points, all with the Flyers.
