Cher tells Dax Shepard he’s ‘lucky’ to be with Kristen Bell

Cher admits she’s puzzled by Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard’s relationship.
The music legend appeared on Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast on Monday, Jan. 5, joined by her “Burlesque” costar Bell for a conversation on her life and career, tough childhood and how it feels to be an icon. Well into their two-hour conversation, Shepard shared that, like Cher, he had a difficult childhood and that amid “violence” and “addiction,” he “couldn’t be more grateful” to have Bell and their two kids. “I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s golden.”
“You’re lucky. Definitely the better half,” Cher, 79, responded, pointing to Bell, 45, next to her. The “Nobody Wants This” actress replied, “I don’t know about that,” shaking her head.
Later, Shepard, 51, asks Cher who she would like to see Bell with from her pick of “every eligible bachelor.”
“They don’t even have to be available,” Shepard said. “Who would be your dream partner for her?”
He added, laughing: “Because I know you think she could do better, and I don’t disagree. Brad Pitt, maybe?”
“I don’t know!” the “Believe” singer exclaimed, with Bell saying Shepard was “being self-deprecating right now.”
Shepard acknowledged that Cher was “not sold yet” on him, while Bell noted he and the musician “don’t have the relationship” that she and the singer have. “I don’t have the talent of either of you guys,” Shepard quipped.
Cher and Bell got close after starring in the 2010 backstage musical film, also starring Christina Aguilera in her film debut.
“No, but the truth is, I trust her,” Cher explained. “So you must have something that I don’t see.”
The comment appeared to mortify Bell, who covered her face. “There is a lot to this man,” she added.
Shepard explained that one of his best qualities is that he is “not threatened by her shining. I love it, the shiner she gets, the better.” Cher was then able to find some common ground, saying her boyfriend, Alexander Edwards, shares a similar quality. “Alexander is that way, too. The more I shine the more he has fun,” she said.
Shephard and Bell married in 2013, and share daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11. The couple drew negative attention late last year, when the “Veronica Mars” alum shared a divisive anniversary post that poked fun at Shepard once telling Bell, “I would never kill you. I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.”
