Historic Gunther Rivalry Seemingly Renewed At WWE Show

Gunther’s historic rivalry with WWE star renewed at a recent show.

The Ring General is currently the most hated heel in World Wrestling Entertainment. Not only did he retire the beloved John Cena by making The Cenation Leader tap out, but he also spent the weeks following his historic win by gloating in fans’ faces and antagonizing them about the same.

While many, including the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, have expressed their displeasure at the 38-year-old’s actions, none of them had stepped into the ring to settle their score with him. However, last week on RAW, R-Truth stepped up to him and got destroyed.

Gunther Faces Longtime Rival At WWE Show

While that seemed to put an end to anyone standing up to the Austrian powerhouse, an old rivalry was reignited during a house show in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The city was a stop on the ongoing Holiday Tour, which saw a match between The Ring General and Sami Zayn.

Zayn, who is a close friend of The Never Seen Seventeen, likely wanted to get revenge for all the trash-talk Gunther has been doing. As per Sam Roberts, who shared a picture from the match, The Ring General received incredible heat from the fans present.

Zayn and the Austrian grappler had a fantastic rivalry, which saw Zayn always falling short to The Ring General. Their rivalry culminated at WrestleMania 40, where Zayn finally beat The Ring General and won the Intercontinental Championship.

However, this miracle did not happen again, as in this meetup, Zayn ended up on the losing end. The Underdog from the Underground recently vowed to be a World Champion, and maybe reigniting this rivalry with The Ring General may set him on course for the same.

Whether this rivalry continues is anyone’s guess at this moment, but given how great their feud was, fans would definitely not mind another run at the same.
