Tough travel possible Tuesday with slippery, messy road conditions

By the evening, southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe will see a changeover to rain while areas from the Niagara Escarpment, Barrie and Peterborough, to locales east of there, will change to snow.
The warm air will likely fail to fully push across eastern Ontario, so precipitation north of the wintry mix is forecast to remain primarily as snowfall.
Kingston may be an exception as some warmer air from Lake Ontario could bring periods of freezing rain.
5-10 cm of snow is possible north of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), extending into eastern Ontario and cottage country.
Amounts are forecast to be highest north of Highway 7 towards Ottawa, while totals across cottage country and Georgian Bay could exceed 10 cm, as well.
