Trains out of Blackburn station delayed and cancelled following points failure

Update: The disruption has now ended and services are no longer affected by this problem.
Trains running through Blackburn are being delayed and cancelled following a points failure.
Services leaving the station or passing through it will be stopped, rail operator Northern said.
The provider has said that Network Rail is aware of the fault and engineers are on site.
A Northern spokesperson said: “We apologise for the cancellation of this service today.
“Services operating through Blackburn are currently being disrupted due to a points failure.
“Network Rail is aware of the fault and engineers are on site.
“If the train you have a ticket for is cancelled, you can travel on any Northern, TransPennine Express and East Midlands Railway service within two hours before or after your cancelled service was due to depart.
“If you require any connecting services, please check information screens or speak to a member of staff where available.
“You can message us on X @northernassist or search for #NorthernUpdates.
“If you’ve been delayed by 15 minutes or more, hold on to your tickets and claim compensation.”
Services affected include the Blackpool North to Leeds and York services, Preston to Colne service, Rochdale to Clitheroe service and Blackburn to Headbolt Lane Services.
The Blackburn to Rochdale service is not affected by the disruption.
Northern tickets may be used at no additional cost on board alternative Northern services between Blackburn or Bolton and Manchester stations until the disruption ends.
Ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas for Northern trains, including advance and peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
Road replacement transport will be requested should the disruption continue, which will extend journey times by up to 60 minutes.
