Netflix’s ‘Solo Leveling’ Live-Action Gets Major Production Update

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling just got an exciting production update, six months after the project was first announced. Based on the Webtoon novel by Chugong, this live-action series is set to star Byeon Woo-seok as Sung Jinwoo and Gyeongseong Creature‘s star, Han So-hee as Cha Hae In. This latest update reveals not only the show’s production period, but also how many episodes the series will have.
A job listing on the Korean forum Filmmakers Community has revealed numerous details about this live-action project, including that production is set to start sometime around the end of April 2026. It also revealed that the live-action Solo Leveling series will have seven episodes, which is typical for a Netflix project, as other shows on the streaming giant, such as live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender, Alice in Borderland, and One Piece, have similar episode counts. At the moment, neither a production end date nor a release date has been disclosed.
Solo Leveling is an award-winning action fantasy that follows Sung Jinwoo, a hunter described as the weakest, but who does the job to support his family, who is selected by the System to become a Player, giving him the ability to level up his power and strength to become the strongest. The anime adaptation first aired in 2024 and currently has two seasons, with the final episode airing in March 2025. It has won numerous accolades, including “Anime of the Year” at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, and was dubbed by Sony as the most-streamed show on Crunchyroll. While a Netflix series is soon to enter production, another Solo Leveling live-action project already took place in December, in the form of an ice show.
What’s Next For ‘Solo Leveling ‘?
At the moment, Solo Leveling has yet to get the green light for Season 3. The anime adaptation has adapted 14 of the web novel’s story arcs, and producers have teased what’s to come for Sung Jinwoo if his story continues. But despite the lack of Season 3 news, there’s speculation that a movie could be produced, following in the same footsteps as Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc, and could be released sometime this year.
Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling has yet to announce a release date. In the meantime, Seasons 1 and 2 of the anime are available to stream on Crunchyroll. Follow Collider to stay updated.
