Ridgewood, Queens fire injures 2 FDNY firefighters, 1 resident

RIDGEWOOD, Queens (WABC) — Firefighters are battling a massive five-alarm fire in Ridgewood, Queens.
Citizen App video shows heavy flames shooting into the sky.
Fire broke out on the first floor of one multi-family home on Madison Street near Seneca Avenue just before 3:25 a.m.
Fire burned up the shaft and through the roof of one three-story building, spreading to two others.
As flames consumed one apartment, they dislodged a window air conditioner.
The flaming air conditioning unit plummeted to the sidewalk, falling onto firefighters below.
Two firefighters suffered “significant” injuries and were taken to the hospital.
One resident is also being treated for minor injuries at New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital
Residents have been displaced.
Once the fire is under control, investigators will work to determine the cause.
