ITV Loose Women star shares rare insight after spending time with secret boyfriend

A Loose Women star has shared a rare insight after spending time with her secret boyfriend over Christmas. Tuesday’s (January 6) edition of the popular ITV show was hosted by Christine Lampard, and also featured Coleen Nolan, Brenda Edwards and Gloria Hunniford as they delved into the day’s top stories.

Later in the show, the panel discussed the struggles of sharing a first holiday with a new partner, with Brenda sharing a relationship update after spending Christmas with her boyfriend.

“My stocking was full and running over! It was brilliant,” she shared. “It’s not about gifts, we gave a couple of gifts. I made an effort with Christmas this year and I put a few lights up and a few Christmassy things in the living room. I’ve never put anything up.”

After previously losing her parents over Christmas, Brenda has found celebrating the holiday difficult. “It’s historically been an emotional time for you,” Christine said.

Brenda went on: “I invited my partner to spend a couple of days with us and it was lovely. [I] just wanted to have some festive spirit and fun.”

Gloria noted: “You are smiling so much at the moment, I think it must have been a very good Christmas.” Brenda went on: “I think with every relationship there’s firsts, but I seem to have been conquering them quite a lot. It’s only been a year and there’s been quite a few firsts.

“The holiday… that went really well and it was only [after] four months of knowing them. I was just really happy that they agreed to come along. It was my birthday, I was like, ‘I want a lovely birthday present. I’m going away to Barbados, do you fancy coming?'”

The star then revealed that she had introduced her partner to her brother and aunties over Christmas, which she described as a “very big occasion”. She continued: “He’s really sweet. He offered to chop up the vegetables and it was lovely. We were cooking together… I’m keeping him.”

Brenda revealed that her auntie Pam “loved him”, while her other auntie, Betty, was “a bit more reserved”. She didn’t give too many more details about her new boyfriend, but did disclose that he has a key to her apartment.

Christine then shared: “I suppose then, really on reflection on the years that have gone by, this has kind of reframed your Christmas. This first Christmas as a couple has actually made you enjoy it.”

Brenda added: “It’s the start of me getting back into just celebrating it… We had lots of food, it was absolutely wonderful.”

Wrapping up the segment, Christine said to her co-star: “We’re very happy for you.” Gloria added: “It’ll be the engagement and wedding next Christmas,” with Brenda firmly replying: “Gloria, there’s no wedding.”

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
