Browns 1st HC search interview: Request interview with their former OC, current rival’s OC

Tuesday afternoon, the first bit of news rolled out with Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken being sought for an interview in Cleveland.

Monken is in his 37th year of coaching with a strong mix of college and NFL experience, including one year as the Browns offensive coordinator in 2019 in Freddie Kitchens’ lone year as the team’s head coach. Monken spent the next three seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Georgia Bulldogs, including two National Championships, before returning to the NFL as Lamar Jackson’s coordinator with the Ravens.

Baltimore had the 11th-ranked offense, according to FTN’s DVOA, this year despite a number of injuries to Jackson. The 2025 season was Monken’s lowest-rated offense while ranking first and fourth the two previous seasons.

Monken’s only spent three years as a head coach, at Southern Miss, with a record of 13-25 during that time.
