Jets’ Fleury stretchered off ice after scary collision

Winnipeg Jets defenceman Haydn Fleury was stretchered off the ice after crashing into the boards during their game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday.

Fleury lost his balance skating backwards in his own zone after receiving a hit from Golden Knights forward Keegan Kolesar and smashed into the boards behind his own net.

After hitting the boards head first, Fleury was unable to get up off the ice, and play was whistled down as the Jets’ training staff came out to attend the player.

After a short examination, the training staff took Fleury off the ice on a stretcher. The entire Jets team stood on the ice around Fleury as he received treatment in the silent arena.

Fleury, 29, was skating in his 17th game of the season in his second campaign with the Jets. He has yet to tally a point this season. In his nine-year career, that includes stops with the Carolina Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Lightning, Seattle Kraken and Anaheim Ducks, Fleury has 10 goals and 44 points.
