MTV Rewind Fan Site Shows 27,000 Classic Music Videos for Free

At the end of 2025, MTV shut down many of its remaining 24-hour music channels across the globe. To fill the void, one ambitious fan has launched a free website called MTV Rewind, featuring archival content from throughout the network’s history.
As of publishing, MTV Rewind hosts 27,293 total classic music videos and vintage commercials pulled from YouTube. The site is organized into multiple channels, taking viewers on a chronological journey starting with “1st day” content from the network’s 1981 launch through the 2020s. As a welcome bonus, the site includes archives from the landmark hip-hop show Yo! MTV Raps and heavy metal program Headbangers Ball.
A message at the top of MTV Rewind promises the site will be “free forever” without ads, but you can support creator FlexasaurusRex with a donation here.

While MTV’s flagship channel remains on air worldwide with a continued priority on reality programming, its dedicated music channels went dark across the UK, Australia, Poland, France, Brasil, and more on New Year’s Eve. In the US, however, supplemental channels MTV Classic and MTV Live are still available on cable.
The shutdowns stem from Paramount Skydance looking to cut costs across its portfolio after its merger last year.
