While the Brazilian could have played on, a Chelsea red card for Marc Cucurella meant he was sacrificed so they could get another defender on the pitch.
Jorrell Hato replaced the midfielder in the 28th minute to complete the misery.
Harry Wilson took a free-kick and when the ball fell to Raul Jimenez, the Mexican blasted ball at Santos’ prviates.
He was down, understandly covering gentials, and then subbed seconds later.

But the sub came as a result of Chelsea regrouping after Cucurella’s red card, not because his groin injury was so severe.
