School bus catches fire, classes canceled at elementary school

EAST ENTERPRISE, Ind. (WXIX) – A Tri-State school bus caught on fire early Thursday, cancelling classes at an elementary school, according to the district’s superintendent.
No one was hurt when flames broke out on the bus about 7 a.m. outside Switzerland County Elementary School on Highway 250 in East Enterprise, which is near Rising Sun, county dispatchers tell FOX 19 NOW.
All students and the bus driver were safely evacuated from the bus, and emergency services are on scene, Superintendent Rod Hite said in a social media post.
The blaze didn’t spread to the building, but the K-6 school is still cancelled for the day for inspections and cleanup, he explained.
The East Enterprise Volunteer Fire Department is investigating the cause, dispatchers say.
