Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Mirren honored at Golden Eve celebration

Golden Globes week is here, and things kicked off Tuesday night with “Golden Eve.”
The second annual event, which was held in Los Angeles on Jan. 6, honored Sarah Jessica Parker with the 2026 Carol Burnett Award and Helen Mirren with the 2026 Cecil B. DeMille Award.
Mirren was presented the Cecil B. DeMille Award by her “1923” co-star Harrison Ford, who reflected on the first time he met Mirren on the set of 1986’s “The Mosquito Coast.”

“We had three lovely children,” Ford said of the pair’s characters in the film. “The script required all of us refer to Helen as ‘Mother.’ Forty years later, I got to work with her again when Taylor Sheridan cast her in ‘1923.’”
Ford joked, “I was an afterthought.”

When it came time to honor Parker, actor Colman Domingo kicked things off with a toast to the actress, which included a cosmopolitan, a nod to Parker’s iconic “Sex and the City” character, Carrie Bradshaw.
Domingo lauded Parker for her love, thoughtfulness, intelligence and style.
“What is truly iconic is her heart,” he said. “Like the great Carol Burnett, she gives us permission to ask big questions about love, work, friendship and time. And she does it all with humor, elegance, nerve and grace.”
Parker’s “Sex and the City” co-star Kristen Davis then paid tribute to Parker in a moving speech, saying she was “in awe” of the actress’s talent.
She added, “‘Sex and the City’ has a lot of great themes, but my favorite theme is honoring the importance of friendship, of lifelong chosen family. And that’s what you are to me.”

Davis went on, “My dearest Sarah, it is a joy to be with you in this life, and to be here tonight to honor you in the name of the incredible Carol Burnett is just a dream come true.”
The event also featured appearances by Burnett, Tessa Thompson, Vin Diesel and Viola Davis.
Parker’s husband Matthew Broderick and son James Wilkie Broderick were also in attendance to show their support, as were Parker’s other “Sex and the City” co-stars, Evan Handler and David Eigenberg.
The Golden Eve primetime special will air Thursday, Jan. 8, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
The event is one of many leading up to the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, which will take place Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
This year, in addition to television and film, the awards show will also honor podcasting.
Emmy-nominated comedian and actress Nikki Glaser is set to host.
