Arsenal are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table with a six-point lead over title challengers Manchester City and Aston Villa.
After thrashing Villa 4-1 and securing a hard-fought 3-2 win away at Bournemouth, next up for Mikel Arteta’s side is the visit of champions Liverpool, who have fallen an astonishing 14 points behind the Gunners and are slumped in fourth. Arne Slot’s flops head to the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night unbeaten in nine games, but having drawn four of those encounters.
Arsenal meanwhile aren’t only eyeing ending a 22-year title drought – the club are also looking to lift the Champions League for he first time in their history. And with that in mind, the January transfer window could be crucial for the North London giants, who are currently still in contention for all four major trophies this campaign. Here’s all the latest news from the Emirates.

Real deal
Arsenal have reportedly tabled a bid for Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz, who is currently shining at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Spanish outlet Fichajes reports the Gunners have put forth an ‘offer’ of £44m to bring Diaz to the Emirates this January. Arsenal are said to view Diaz’s current predicament at Real as a prime market opportunity, with the Moroccan international finding himself on the fringes under Xabi Alonso.
Despite only making four starts in all competitions for the La Liga titans this season, Diaz has been a standout performer for Morocco at AFCON. The ex-Manchester City player netted the solitary goal in Morocco’s 1-0 victory over Tanzania, securing their spot in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Diaz has found the back of the net in each of his country’s matches at the competition, prompting Arsenal to make a move and try to tempt Real into parting ways with the 26-year-old.
The report adds: “Mikel Arteta has been key to the deal. The Arsenal manager considers the signing of Brahim Diaz a priority, seeing him as an ideal player to bring creativity, mobility, and attacking flair to the final third of the pitch.”

In a bid to bolster their youth ranks, Arsenal are said to have set their sights on Blackburn Rovers’ prodigy Igor Tyjon.
Over the past 18 months, the Gunners have been actively seeking to add promising young talent to their academy. They’re also in the market for a young striker and have had their eye on Tyjon since last summer.
The Sun reports Arsenal had multiple offers exceeding £1m turned down by Blackburn previously. Tyjon, 17, is currently a scholar at Blackburn after declining the opportunity to sign a professional contract.
This month’s transfer window represents the final opportunity for the Championship side to command a fee for Tyjon. His scholarship terms expire at the end of the season, at which point Blackburn would be entitled to compensation if he were to join another English club.

In other news, Arsenal are reportedly close to agreeing a lucrative new contract with Jurrien Timber.
The Dutch international has two-and-a-half years left on his current deal and Arteta’s side have been engaged in extension discussions for several weeks as they aim to agree new terms with the former Ajax star.
According to TEAMtalk, a full agreement is nearly finalised and an announcement is anticipated shortly, with the 24-year-old about to become the latest Arsenal star to ink fresh terms at the club.
David Raya, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri and Leandro Trossard have all signed new contracts at the Emirates Stadium since the end of the 2024-25 season.
Furthermore, Arsenal are also nearing the announcement of Bukayo Saka’s contract extension until 2031, while the club are in advanced talks over a new deal for fellow England superstar Declan Rice too.
