PGA Awards Nominations 2026 Include ‘Sinners,’ ‘F1,’ ‘Weapons,’

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) finished off its 2026 nominees for the PGA Awards with a bang, announcing which projects received recognition in its Motion Pictures and Television categories (several categories, including Documentary, had already announced nominees in December).
While all five of the films recently nominated for SAG’s Actor Award for Best Ensemble making the PGA list comes as little surprise, the awards body filled with producers, known for a having a more populist taste than the Academy, to the point where it nominated four sequels for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures, opted to recognize original blockbusters like “F1” and “Weapons” over “Avatar: Fire and Ash” and “Wicked: For Good.”
While the group is not entirely resistant to nominating films that are not in English, nominating “Sentimental Value” this year, for example, other foreign language contenders that are primarily distributed by Neon, that have been receiving Oscar buzz, like “The Secret Agent” and “It Was Just an Accident,” did not make the cut. The group recognized “Bugonia” and “Train Dreams” in their presumable places.
Also worth noting that when counting “F1,” which it distributed to theaters in partnership with Apple, Warner Bros. Pictures has an impressive four out of 10 film nominations.
The PGA ceremony’s top honor, the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures, has historically correlated closely with the Best Picture Oscar outcome, with 17 of the previous 22 winners going on to also win Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
Meanwhile, the guild’s TV nominations mostly reflect what won at the 2025 Emmys, including “The Pitt” and “The Studio,” which are both first time PGA Awards nominees, Apple drama “Pluribus” and Netflix limited series “The Beast in Me” and “Black Rabbit” stand out as the contenders newly eligible for the next Emmys in September.
The 37th Annual Producers Guild Awards to be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the Fairmont Century Plaza, and will also include special honors celebrating distinguished producers whose careers reflect sustained excellence and influence. Honorees this year include Amy Pascal (David O. Selznick Achievement Award), Jason Blum (Milestone Award), and Mara Brock Akil (Norman Lear Achievement Award).
