Helicopter, multiple ambulances en route to vehicle incident on Malahat

A vehicle incident south of Bamberton Road is impacting Malahat traffic in both directions.
DriveBC said in an X post at 1:47 p.m. that “crews are en route,” and provided an updated shortly after confirming the highway is closed in both directions. A detour is available via Shawnigan Lake Road.
Images shared online by drivers show a vehicle on fire.
BC Emergency Health Services confirmed just after 2:30 p.m. that emergency crews are responding and that five ambulances and one helicopter are en route.
A BCEHS spokesperson said the incident is “ongoing right now” and that they wouldn’t have an update on the condition of those involved for another hour.
