‘The Running Man’ Sprints Home With Paramount+ Release This Week

Glen Powell is making a run for it to Paramount+ as The Running Man makes its streaming debut this week.

The Edgar Wright-helmed adaptation of Stephen King‘s 1982 dystopian novel will be available to stream Tuesday, Jan. 13 on the platform in the US and Canada, with international release dates to be announced later.

Set in a bleak near future, Powell stars in The Running Man as Ben Richards, a working man struggling to make enough money for his daughter’s medication. Blacklisted from labor jobs, his only option is to compete in the authoritarian media-driven government’s titular reality show, in which he has to outrun a nationwide manhunt in order to win the billion-dollar prize.

In addition to Powell, the star-studded ensemble cast includes  William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson, Katy O’Brian, Martin Herlihy, Sean Hayes, Colman Domingo and Josh Brolin.

Written by Michael Bacall and Wright, based on King’s novel, producers are Simon Kinberg, Nira Park and Edgar Wright. The film was exec produced by George Linder, James Biddle, Rachael Prior, Audrey Chon, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary. 

The Running Man‘s streaming release comes after it premiered in theaters and Imax on Nov. 14.
