Michigan building momentum with Texas WR transfer Jaime Ffrench

Michigan football is in the throes of building the roster for Team 147, with just under a week to go with the transfer portal still open. And with that, the Wolverines are hosting a big-time visitor in hopes of bolstering the passing game.

Hailing originally from Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin, former four-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench originally signed with Texas, despite overtures from several other top schools in the country, including Ohio State, LSU, Florida State, and others. But after one year in Austin, Ffrench is on his way out, looking for a new opportunity — one the maize and blue might offer.

And according to On3 college football insider Pete Nakos, Ann Arbor looks like it could be the spot.

Nakos put in a prediction that Ffrench will ultimately choose the Wolverines, though he had something of a disclaimer in his intel piece. (subscription required)

Sources have told On3 that there’s been quick dialogue between Ffrench and Michigan, and a visit could come together as quickly as this weekend. It might be too early for a prediction, but the Wolverines definitely have the early momentum.

Michigan looks as if it will retain wide receiver Andrew Marsh, and quarterback Bryce Underwood has already been announced as retained. Both are good friends with Ffrench, which could equal chemistry not just off the field, but also on. Ffrench is coming off his freshman season, but he redshirted, having appeared in just four games, with one reception for six yards. He thus has four years of eligibility remaining.

He was rated highest by ESPN, which had him as the No. 26 player overall, regardless of position.
