Elle Fanning began her awards season in a gold archival Ralph Lauren gown, and she’s continuing her sartorial run at this evening’s Golden Globes in silver (naturally). The Sentimental Value actress stepped out on the red carpet in a Gucci dress, accessorizing with Cartier jewelry. She posted on the red carpet solo and with her boyfriend, Gus Wenner.

Fanning’s work in Sentimental Value earned her a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture.
Earlier this week, W magazine shared a new interview with Fanning about her role as an American actress in the Norwegian drama. Her character takes a part the director’s daughter turned down, only to later question whether she is right for the project. Fanning herself hasn’t had that experience.
“I’ve never walked away from a part,” she said. “I’ve said no to things because they didn’t feel right. Or, if there are two female parts and I’m offered one, I’ve been like, ‘But I like the other one better. Can I do that one?’ But [my character] Rachel is a bit less confident than me. Her confidence grows throughout the film because [director] Gustav awakens a talent in her that she knows is there.”
She went brunette for the role, but wore “the best wig I’d ever worn,” she told W. “I tricked so many people with it, but I truly am a blonde. I’ve dyed my hair brunette for a role in the past, and it was fine, but I’m always desperate to go back to blonde.”
